GOLF CLASSIC 

Rockwell Rovers GAA Club is holding their Golf Classic in Dundrum Golf Club, Co. Tipperary this Friday 16 July & Saturday 17 July. Thanks to everyone who has purchased a tee box or put in a team. A big thank you to all our sponsors especially our main sponsor Eoin Shine Electrical, New Inn. Hoping the sun will be shining and everyone enjoys a bit of golfing.

HAMPER 

Tickets will be on sale this week at the GAA field (from 7pm to 8pm, Mon – Thur) as part of our Golf Classic in aid of the new development. The prize is a hamper sponsored by Morrissey’s SuperValu, Cashel which is gratefully appreciated. Tickets are one for €2 or 3 for €5. The draw will take place Saturday 17 July at our Golf classic in Dundrum. Your support is much appreciated!

TODAY FM-SOUND TOWN COMPETITION

Today, Wednesday July 14, Today Fm are coming down to New Inn to film parts of the village for Ireland’s soundest town competition. New Inn is the month of June Cadbury sound town 2021 winner. Each month a different town will be picked and at the end of the year, an overall winner will be picked. This is a great opportunity to showcase our village and to impress the judges for the Final and have a chance of winning €10,000 for the community. We would ask that if there is anything you can do to make the village stand out, or if you see something that needs cleaning please help out with whatever you can and lets do ourselves proud. CUL GAA CAMP 2021

Well done to all the children who attended the Kellogg’s Cul Camp from last Monday June 28 to Friday July 2. We had over 160 children – great numbers. Thanks to the parents who helped each day. A big thank you to the juvenile club with Elaine Cummins, Gerry & Anne Heenan, Anita O’Dwyer with help from Annette Carroll and the Camogie club and Martina Durkan and the Ladies football who ensured that everything ran smoothly. There are some lovely pictures up on our Rockwell Rovers GAA Facebook page. Thanks also to Kevin Halley our GDA and all the coaches for their help and support during the week. Finally, thanks to John Hally who had the pitch in perfect condition for the week. Also, we were blessed with lovely fine weather which made all the difference.

TODAY FM – SOUND TOWN COMPETITION

New Inn village is this month’s winner after Rockwell Rovers LGFA entered “Sound Town” competition. Tadhg Mohally entered the ladies football club into the competition and on Sunday morning last he spoke on Today FM. Tadhg mentioned the various fundraisers held by the club in the past year or so for Tipperary Down Syndrome, Little Blue Heros charity and Darkness into Light. In total over €2600 has been raised with the help of New Inn community for these charities. Each month a different town will be picked and at the end of the year, an overall winner will be picked. We are now in the running to win €10,000 at the end of the year. Huge congrats to everybody in the community who make it all possible and the very Best of Luck!

CAMOGIE

It has been a very busy weekend with our two u14 teams out. Our blue team has played three games since our matches started and defeated Kiladangan, St. Cronans, and Newport. The girls are putting exceptionally hard work in at training and it shows that hard work pays off. The u14 white team played Newport in their first match of the season and came out victorious with fantastic work rate on the field.

Our u10s first blitz was in Clogheen last Sunday June 20 and they played Ballybacon and Brian Borus. Huge thanks to all parents that travelled on all days. We appreciate it and also coaches and everyone involved with the teams.

Our u12s play their first match in Clogheen at 7pm on Tuesday, June 22 and this will have been played when you read this. Best of luck to all involved.

Best of luck to our Intermediate football team who are in the West Intermediate football final this Wednesday June 23 against Clonoulty (last year’s competition) in Cashel at 8pm.

ROCKWELL ROVERS CAMOGIE CLUB

We are delighted to say our club will be taking part in this year’s #tescohurlwithme programme or the M.N.A programme as it is also known.

This programme will take place for 4 nights from the week of June 14 over a period of 6 weeks.We would encourage as many parents as possible to take on the challenge and get involved to learn the skills of camogie and be able to encourage your daughters at home over the summer months. Our MNA instructor for the first night will be Tara Stafford and we look forward to a brilliant first night. Special guests will follow on other dates.

TIPPERARY WOMAN CLAIMS TOP PRIZE AT NATIONAL GREYHOUND AWARDS.

Newinn Taylor is named Dog of the Year and the Supreme Greyhound of the Year at the 2021 National Greyhound Awards. The canine stars of 2020 were recognised at a virtual ceremony. After being named future star of the year in 2019, Newinn Taylor proved himself to be a worthy winner winning 17 from 19 starts in his career. Newinn Taylor won 4 stakes including the 2020 Larry O Rourke Produce Stakes final in Clonmel and claimed the 2020 BoyleSports Derby final Trophy in Shelbourne Park. He was bred and reared in the Little village of New Inn by Shari Anne O’Donnell and her family. It is a once in a lifetime achievement and a huge honour, awards like these are hard to come by. Owned by Simon Taylor and trained by the Hollands-Riverside Kennels, a family run business in Golden in Tipperary that have had ample success over the years.

ROCKWELL ROVERS CUL CAMP

Online booking for Rockwell Rovers Kellogg’s Cul Camp is now open. Please see the following link: https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking/online/camp. It is on from Monday June 28 to Friday, July 2 from 10am to 2pm each day. This year the gear is being posted directly to your home which means an additional cost of €7.80 per kit. (Covid related). If there are any issues with your order you will have to deal directly with Kellogg’s Cul Camp, we will not be able to swap gear or get different sizes, so please be careful with your order. Cul camp is for primary school going children between the ages of 6 to 13. There is a limit on numbers this year due to Covid, so it is advisable to book as soon as possible. PARISH NOTES

Anniversary mass this weekend is for John Moloney, Lagganstown on Sunday, May 16 at 11am in New Inn church. Mass returns to normal this weekend with masses in both Churches at the usual times i.e., 7.30pm – Saturday and 11am – Sunday in New Inn church and 9.30am in Knockgraffon church on Sunday mornings. We would encourage people to use masks and abide with all protocols and to follow the instructions. Also note that the collection boxes will be at each door. ROCKWELL ROVERS LGFC

Welcome back to all our members, parents, coaches and covid supervisors. Our u12, u14 and u16 girls are back at 7pm on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Our u6, u8 and u10 girls are bouncing back onto the pitch on Saturday mornings at 9.30am. We had a unique sunrise training session last Saturday morning at 5am with our u12/14 and u16 girls creating awareness for the great work of Pieta House. €1000 was raised at training for Pieta House. The club would like to acknowledge Raceside Service Station for supplying the croissants and snacks enjoyed by the parents with a cuppa while the girls trained from Darkness into Light. We also would like to acknowledge the support of all our members with the recent development fundraiser and in the coming weeks our daughters will reap the benefits of the phenomenal Astro Turf.
