COFFEE MORNING -WOMANS GROUP

There will be a Coffee morning in aid of South Tipperary Hospice this Saturday January 7 from 11am to 1pm in Barron’s Pub, New Inn. All are welcome. Please support this worthy cause.

 

LINE DANCING -WOMANS GROUP

Line dancing on for 6 weeks each Tuesday evening starting next Tuesday January 10 from 7pm to 8pm in the NICC. €40 for 6 weeks. For more info contact Mary Francis on 052 7462252. The woman’s group committee would like to offer sincere sympathies to Patricia Wilson, Stephenstown, Cashel on the passing of her husband John recently. Our thoughts and prayers are with Patricia, daughters Emma and Georgina and son Mikey at this sad time.

 

PARISH LINKS 

This year Parish links are selling lines and you have a chance to win a beautiful hamper which is on display at The Shop, New Inn. Please support the lines for sale in The Shop or from any committee member. This is their only fundraising this year. The Christmas party will be held this year in the New Inn Community Centre this Sunday January 8, 2023, starting at 12.30pm. This promises to be a great day with music being played by our own Eddie Golden. Invitations for the party have been sent in the post. If there are any newcomers to the parish or if anyone knows anyone who would be interested in going to the Christmas party, please contact Esther on 0863583719 or Mgt on 052 7462132 or any committee member asap.

NEW INN TIDY TOWN 

The Committee would like to thank the Publicans, Sponsors and all those who supported the recent Christmas raffle. Well done to the following winners: 1st: James English, Clogheen,2nd: Jed Longworth, Boytonrath, 3rd: Bridget Ryan, Dualla Rd, Cashel and 4th: Isobel Moore, Knockgraffon.

Well done to the Tidy town committee and Christmas Cheer committee for doing a wonderful job on “Lighting up” New Inn village. The lights and decorations are a credit to them and it brought a very festive feeling to the village. Here’s wishing everyone “A Happy New Year”!

 

 

KNOCKGRAFFON CARDS

Joint winners last Wednesday, December 28 with 10 games each were Maisie O’Grady/Joe Ahern, Jimmy Looby/Ml Murphy and Ann Dowling/Dick Lonergan. Table prize to Chas Keane, Phil Ryan and Sandra English.  Well done all. Cards on every Wednesday night at the Old School, Knockgraffon at 8.30pm sharp. All are welcome. The committee would like to take this opportunity to wish all the players a Happy & Holy Christmas and good health and good luck for all in the New Year.

 

ROCKWELL ROVERS

CONGRATULATIONS 

to the Rockwell Rovers players on the West Development U13 and U14 squads. Both teams were playing their respective Shield finals on Saturday December 31. The U13 team (Adam Collins, Cameron Fitzpatrick and Tadhg Lonergan) beat the South in Borrisoleigh after extra time winning the Peadar Cummins hurling shield. The U14 team (Kieran Moloney and Shane Cummins) beat the Mid in Templederry winning the Rodger Ryan hurling shield. This was a great experience for all the boys involved in these panels. Thanks to all the coaches & David Byrne GDA for their time and commitment.

SENIOR GAA CLUB AGM

The annual general meeting of Rockwell Rovers GAA club will be held in the NICC on Sunday 15 January at 2.30pm. All are welcome.

 

 

TIPPERARY G.A.A. YEARBOOK NOW ON SALE

The Tipperary G.A.A. Yearbook is now available in Cashel (Halls and Ely’s) or in Cahir (Dolan’s Super Valu or Sampson’s). It includes the achievements of Rockwell Rovers and some joint ventures with our near neighbour, Rosegreen. One of the sections of the book that is read with interest and a little sadness is the “Friends we Lost” obituary notices of the many Gaels who passed away during 2022. As usual there are many, fine people, men, and women, who contributed significantly to the G.A.A. during their lifetimes. All this, over two hundred pages, for €15.

 

SINCERE SYMPATHY 

The death occurred in Birmingham, England of Bill (aka Willie) Barrett on December 13, 2022. Wille in his 93rd year and late of Knockgraffon, may he rest in peace. Sincere sympathy to his wife Peggy and family Aileen, Marie and Alan, brother John (Fethard). Our thoughts and prayers are with John and all the Barrett family at this sad time. Ar dheis de go raibh an Anam delis.

Sincere sympathy is also extended to Jim & Audrey Parkinson, Marlhill, New Inn on the passing of Jim’s aunt Janie Griffin, Killarney who died recently. Our thoughts and prayers are with Janie’s daughter Betty and all the family. May she rest in peace.
