NEW INN TIDY TOWNS

Thanks for all your support with our raffle. Total raised was €530. Draw took place last Saturday December 23 in Ollie’s bar.  A big thank you to Ollie’s bar and Phil for facilitating the draw. Winners are as follows : First prize of a beautiful hamper goes to Paul Halley,  second prize to Sean Mohally and third prize to Aine O Connor.

 

CHURCH OFFERING BOXES

are available in both churches for collection. If you cannot locate your box, please contact Fr. Bobby or any member of the Parish Council. The parish Council wants to thank all Parishioners for their help and support throughout the year. We wish you all a Happy Christmas and a peaceful and holy and Happy New year

 

 

KNOCKGRAFFON CARDS

Winners on Wednesday, December 18 were Patsy Hartigan and Jim Phelan with 12 games, and second place to Chris Noonan / Kevin Farrell. Well done all. Cards start at 8.30pm sharp and all are welcome. The Christmas Party night was a wonderful success, well done to the Knockgraffon Card committee. Cards continue over the Xmas season, i.e., tonight Wednesday December 27. The committee would like to wish all the players good health and good luck for all in the New Year.

TIPPERARY G.A.A. YEARBOOK NOW ON SALE

It includes the achievements of Rockwell Rovers gaa club. One of the sections of the book that is read with interest and a little sadness is the “Friends we Lost” obituary notices of the many Gaels who passed away during 2023. As usual there are many, fine people, men, and women, who contributed significantly to the G.A.A. during their lifetimes. All this, over one hundred and fifty pages, for €15.

 

PARISH LINKS

The Parish Links are selling lines, and you have a chance to win a beautiful hamper which is on display at The Shop, New Inn. This is their only fundraiser this year. The Parish Links committee organises a Christmas party for the senior members of our community each year. The Christmas party will be held this year in New Inn Community Centre on Sunday January 7, 2024, starting at 12.30. This promises to be a great day with music being played by our own Eddie Golden.

Congratulations to Conor English (Rockwell Rovers) who was elected the twelfth Secretary of West Tipperary GAA Board. He became the first Rockwell Rovers man to hold the position.

Father Thomas Tobin

Funeral Mass for Father Thomas Tobin, age 89, of Baker, MT, was held on December 18,2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Baker with Bishop Jeffery Fleming and  Bishop Micheal Warfel concelebrating.
Father Thomas Tobin passed away December 4, at Dahl Memorial in Ekalaka.
Thomas Tobin was born in Knockgraffon, New Inn on January 30, 1934 to Patrick and EllenTobin. He and his siblings were raised on the family farm. Thomas answered Gods calling toserve and was ordained a Catholic priest on June 14, 1959 in Knockgraffon, Tipperary,Ireland.

SINCERE SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Jim (James) O’Connor, Ballyroan, Laois / New Inn, Tipperary.  Died peacefully at home in Ballyroan on the 21st of December 2023 surrounded by his much loved children Sarah, Maria, James, Hugh and Christina, their mother Carmel and his partner Kirsty. Also survived by his adored grandchildren Katie, Nadine, Rory, Sophie, Ronan and Clodagh, daughters in law, sons in law, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and beloved red setters. Also remembering his late parents Hettie and Sonny and brothers Peter, Ger, Fr. Noel, Tom and JJ, May he rest in peace.

Sympathy is also extended to the family of the late Joan Ryan (née O’Donnell), Kilcornan, Cullen and formerly of Ballydoyle, Cashel and Outrath Creamery, New Inn, Joan passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of her family. Predeceased by her father John, mother Mary Ellen, brothers Richard & Jerry and aunt Maggie. Deeply regretted by her husband Christopher, daughters Mary Ellen & Margaret and partner Ian, sons John William, Martin and partner Megan, sisters Breda, Eileen, Mary, Noreen and Catherine, brothers Sean & Tom, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, her many friends, especially her special friends of the Legion of Mary.

 

 

WEDDING CONGRATULATIONS

To Willie Flynn jnr & Bernie Bergin who were married in St Peter’s Church, Moycarkey recently.  Willie is a son of the late Willie Flynn snr & Mary, Outrath. We wish the happy couple every health and happiness for the future.
