ROCKWELL ROVERS CAMOGIE CLUB

Our adjourned AGM was held Thursday night under covid regulations and our new officers for the year 2021 are as follows; Chairperson: Annette Carroll, Secretary: Louise Moloney,

Registrar: Gillian Hayes, Treasurer: Tara Stafford, Child protection officer: Maria McGrath. Huge thanks to John Fogarty who stepped down after 4 years as chairman, a fantastic worker in the club and we are delighted to say he will continue as our county board rep going forward. To all our coaches also thank you again, without you we would not be able to continue.

Thanks for the support of all parents over this very strange year, and we hope to be back with strength and agility training mid-January, all going to plan. We would like to wish our girls who have moved on from us, the very best in whatever they do next year. They are now over age and unfortunately, we do not have a team for them, but it is our aim to eventually get our minor team up and running. We would like to wish all the girls and parents a very happy and safe Christmas and best wishes for the new year. Thanks again.

SINCERE SYMPATHY

It is with deep regret that we learn of the passing of Paddy Maher, Tipperary town and late of Knockgraffon. Paddy was a member of the great team which won the double u15 titles in the 1950s and was one of the Captains. He was also a referee of note and refereed in the West division during the 1960’s. The club wishes to extend its sympathy to his family. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.

LADIES FOOTBALL CLUBU12 ROCKWELL ROVERS LGFC girls took a moment during their training session to show their stripes and display our 20×20 Flag showing our support for women in sport.

The grounds of Rockwell Rovers GAA Club continues to be a hive of activity every weekend with our girls attending football training sessions in great numbers while always adhering to public health guidelines. In these strange times, it is fabulous to hear the fun and laughter echoing from the pitch.
Last week our girls fundraised for their friends and members of our club who are working relentlessly to raise funds for Tipperary Down Syndrome Association and their project in Thurles. The club raised €450 and are looking forward to presenting this cheque in the coming week. Anyone wishing to donate can still do so by looking up Tipperary Down Syndrome Facebook page.

In the coming weeks we hope to hold a Car Wash as a fundraiser for our club and we will keep our members and community updated as we finalise details.

Our Chairman Colm, PRO Tadhg and Treasurer Ken, are growing a beard (or trying!) for the month of November and are fundraising for the Little Blue Hero’s charity. This charity helps little kids that have serious illnesses. Please see our Facebook page for further details or you can click on the following link to donate or read about the charity on www.idonate.ie/RockwellRoversLGFA. Thank you.

SPOOKFEST

Our Spookfest is back. The New Inn village is holding its annual scarecrow competition from the 18th of this month to the 31st October. We have set out a challenge for every family, household, business, organization to take part in our 2020 competition. This will lift the mood & spirts of everyone during the winter months plus we all have a bit of Craic through Facebook and the media of course. Covid restrictions have limited us from doing the zombie walk & kids party this year and I am sure everyone is going to be gutted, especially the children. So, this year we must make this one the biggest one yet for everybody. So, we need as many scarecrows as possible lining our village and roads so we can get our village buzzing again. So, we are calling all our families, groups of people, townlands, schools, players from teams, clubs etc. to get together and create a masterpiece of a scarecrow or crows of any theme you wish. So far, we have had a fantastic turnout for the first day, 59 scarecrows out there and many more to come. We cannot believe the amount of talent we have out there, a lot of work has gone into making these scarecrows, well done!! Fee is €10 and we will have lots of hampers, trophies, and prizes on offer. All groups must work together as per Covid restrictions and scarecrows will be kept 2m apart at all time. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page Spookfest for further updates. Please ring/text Anita on 087 6505889 with your details and you will receive a number and location for your scarecrow. The competition is on!!

SPOOKFEST

Our Spookfest is back. The New Inn village is holding its annual scarecrow competition from the 18th of this month. You may enter more than once. All entries will be taken on Sunday the 18th at New Inn GAA club from 2-4pm where you will be allocated a number and position in the village. Fee is €10 and we will have lots of hampers, trophies, and prizes on offer. All groups must work together as per Covid restrictions and scarecrows will be kept 2m apart at all time. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page Spookfest for further updates. Anyone needs more information please contact Anita on 087 6505889. Get the thinking caps on everyone!!

CAMOGIE NOTES

To get to two County finals, what an achievement! Unfortunately, it was not our day last Sunday, we were sadly beaten in our U12 County Final games, but we are so proud of all the girls. You fought hard, with full strength and determination and never gave up, that fire was burning to win, but lady luck was not on our side. Congratulations to Boherlahan in our early match, and to Ballybacon in the 5.30pm match. A big thanks to all the coaches and parents for their support throughout this very strange year.

Fixture: U16 have a match Thursday evening in New Inn for 7.45pm v Gortnahoe.
