SPOOKFEST

Our Spookfest is back. The New Inn village is holding its annual scarecrow competition from the 18th of this month. We have set out a challenge for every family, household, business, organization to take part in our 2020 competition. This will lift the mood & spirts of everyone during the winter months plus we all have a bit of Craic through Facebook and the media of course. Covid restrictions have limited us from doing the zombie walk & kids party this year and I am sure everyone is going to be gutted, especially the children. So, this year we must make this one the biggest one yet for everybody. So, we need as many scarecrows as possible lining our village and roads so we can get our village buzzing again. So, we are calling all our families, groups of people, townlands, schools, players from teams, clubs etc. to get together and create a masterpiece of a scarecrow or crows of any theme you wish. You may enter more than once. All entries will be taken on Sunday the 18th at New Inn GAA club from 2-4pm where you will be allocated a number and position in the village. Fee is €10 and we will have lots of hampers, trophies, and prizes on offer. All groups must work together as per Covid restrictions and scarecrows will be kept 2m apart at all time. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page Spookfest for further updates. Anyone needs more information please contact Anita on 087 6505889. Get the thinking caps on everyone!!

He is now unbeaten winning 12 races from 12 starts. The New Inn Kennels bred two of the finalists, New Inn Taylor and Doolin Duke and for New Inn Taylor to win and Doolin Duke to come in a gallant third was fantastic. CUAN SAOR COLLECTION

You are invited to donate some non-perishable food (e.g. tea bags, canned food ie beans, peas, dried fruit, soup etc.) or donate to Cuan Saor at the Masses in New Inn and Knockgraffon this weekend. These goods can be placed in “Willy the Legend's” donkey cart outside the church. Cuan Saor, like many organizations, have seen their funding streams dry up during the covid pandemic and unfortunately have also seen more women requiring their services. Cuan Saor, a women's refuge centre based in Clonmel is a free and confidential service for women and children experiencing domestic violence. If Mass times do not suit the following are “drop off” locations around the parish where one can leave goods to be collected by New Inn & District Vintage & Classic club who are supporting this great cause. 1) Lagganstown Handball Alley at 12 noon. 2) Knockgraffon Motte at 12.30. 3) Whiteland’s Grotto at 1pm. 4) The Old IRA Monument, Graigue at 1:30pm. 5) Church car park, New Inn at 2pm where there will be a presentation made to Cuan Saor. For more info you can contact Geraldine Cooney on 086 8153275, Cyril Fitzgerald on 087 257 8995 or Pat O’Rourke on 086 3778696. Your support would be much appreciated.

CAMOGIE CLUB

Our U16s played Clonoulty last Friday evening and our girls were up against a very strong side but despite this, our girls never gave up. While it did not go our way, we are extremely proud of them all. Huge thanks to all who travelled on the night and our next fixture is against Thurles Gaels, date to be confirmed. Last Tuesday July 21 saw our U12 blue team take on Holycross in their first match of this year winning 2.2 to 2.1. It was a fantastic match fought to the bitter end by both teams. Each one of the girls showed great determination and skill, and were not leaving anything behind, even though going in at half time 2 points down. They all defended, hooked, blocked and our goalie was also on fire. Well done girls and well-done coaches, keep up the good work. Thanks to all parents for keeping in line with our covid requirements. We are really looking forward to the next game. Training continues every Tuesday night at 6.30pm for u6, u8, and u10s and 6.45pm for u12s, u14s, u16s and minors.

It is going to be very busy with matches for the next few weeks and we would urge girls to continue hurling at home and make sure to stretch out before and after every training session as the season will be short this year and we do not want to see girls getting any injuries.

ROCKWELL ROVERS GAA CLUB
