GREYHOUND NEWS

All eyes were on Clonmel Greyhound Stadium last Sunday night as the final of the €17,000 to the winner Larry O’Rourke National Produce Stakes took centre stage and with the pressure very much on the 4/5 favourite New Inn Taylor. It was a great night for local breeder Shari Anne O Donnell and her family who bred the sensational New Inn Taylor who went on to win the produce stakes final for owner Simon Taylor in Clonmel. He is now unbeaten winning 12 races from 12 starts. The New Inn Kennels bred two of the finalists, New Inn Taylor and Doolin Duke and for New Inn Taylor to win and Doolin Duke to come in a gallant third was fantastic. Both are trained by local trainer Graham Holland & family from Golden so great achievement for both Families

The First Holy Communion date is now set for Saturday October 10, 2020 at 11.00am.

CAMOGIE CLUB

Our U16s played Clonoulty last Friday evening and our girls were up against a very strong side but despite this, our girls never gave up. While it did not go our way, we are extremely proud of them all. Huge thanks to all who travelled on the night and our next fixture is against Thurles Gaels, date to be confirmed. Last Tuesday July 21 saw our U12 blue team take on Holycross in their first match of this year winning 2.2 to 2.1. It was a fantastic match fought to the bitter end by both teams. Each one of the girls showed great determination and skill, and were not leaving anything behind, even though going in at half time 2 points down. They all defended, hooked, blocked and our goalie was also on fire. Well done girls and well-done coaches, keep up the good work. Thanks to all parents for keeping in line with our covid requirements. We are really looking forward to the next game. Training continues every Tuesday night at 6.30pm for u6, u8, and u10s and 6.45pm for u12s, u14s, u16s and minors.

It is going to be very busy with matches for the next few weeks and we would urge girls to continue hurling at home and make sure to stretch out before and after every training session as the season will be short this year and we do not want to see girls getting any injuries.

ROCKWELL ROVERS GAA CLUB
