SPOOKFEST

Our Spookfest is back. The New Inn village is holding its annual scarecrow competition from the 18th of this month to the 31st October. We have set out a challenge for every family, household, business, organization to take part in our 2020 competition. This will lift the mood & spirts of everyone during the winter months plus we all have a bit of Craic through Facebook and the media of course. Covid restrictions have limited us from doing the zombie walk & kids party this year and I am sure everyone is going to be gutted, especially the children. So, this year we must make this one the biggest one yet for everybody. So, we need as many scarecrows as possible lining our village and roads so we can get our village buzzing again. So, we are calling all our families, groups of people, townlands, schools, players from teams, clubs etc. to get together and create a masterpiece of a scarecrow or crows of any theme you wish. So far, we have had a fantastic turnout for the first day, 59 scarecrows out there and many more to come. We cannot believe the amount of talent we have out there, a lot of work has gone into making these scarecrows, well done!! Fee is €10 and we will have lots of hampers, trophies, and prizes on offer. All groups must work together as per Covid restrictions and scarecrows will be kept 2m apart at all time. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page Spookfest for further updates. Please ring/text Anita on 087 6505889 with your details and you will receive a number and location for your scarecrow. The competition is on!!

COUNTY FINAL

Huge congratulations to our intermediate football team who are now through to a county football final against Grangemockler/Ballyneale on Saturday 19 September at 4.15pm in Clonmel. Final score in last Saturday’s match in Cahir, Rockwell Rovers 7:16 Moyle Rovers 2:11. The club hasn’t been in a county Intermediate football final since 2010 and 1987 was the year when we won the famous double - county champions in both u21’s and Intermediates. C'mon the Rovers !

CARING FOR CAHIR

Congratulations to local jeweller John Quirke on his excellent Caring for Cahir cycle/fun run around Cahir last Saturday in his pair of Guinness slippers as his chosen footwear for the day. The whole event was recorded by Brendan Kerins, highlighting, and promoting local businesses, shops, sports clubs, and facilities in Cahir town, in return for this exposure that business would donate to these worthy causes. It can be seen on YouTube. Commentary was provided by Hugh O’Donnell and Johnny Looby and PA system by Gerry Bell. It has exceeded all expectations and the GoFundMe will stay open till the end of September. Monies raised are going towards two local charities “Helping Mandy “and Cahir Day Care centre. Well done to An Garda Siochana for all their help in particular Superintendent Denis Whelan and Sgt Ray Moloney. Also, a big thank you to Cahir men’s shed for their help with the collection on the day.

NEW INN COMMUNITY CENTRE

APPEAL FOR FUNDS

The Community Centre is open again under Covid19 regulations. The building project has been completed and paid for at a cost of €300,000. We have no debt but due to the Pandemic our funds for day-to-day costs, insurance, etc. have been hit hard. We find ourselves in the position for the first time of having to make an appeal and ask you for money toward the upkeep of the Centre. This can be done by making a donation any Friday evening between Friday 14th August and Friday 25th September from 6 p.m. to 8. Members of the committee will be present at the Centre at these times. It will also be possible to donate through our new web page newinncommunitycentre.com. A third option is to donate electronically to the NICC bank account and any committee member will be able to assist you with details. You can also donate directly to any committee member. Receipts will be issued. During these difficult times our options for fund-raising are limited and we would very much
appreciate your support.LOTTO
