PARISH NOTES FOR EASTER WEEK.

Mass for the Lord’s supper on Holy Thursday evening at 7.30pm. Good Friday afternoon service is at 3pm. Stations of the Cross at 7.30pm. Mass Easter Saturday night at 8pm (please note change in time). Easter Sunday Mass 11am. Blessed Easter water will be available in bottles in both Church’s from 12 noon on Sunday. Please remember that the Easter dues for the churches can be dropped into the parish House or given online through the Cashel and Emly website/ New Inn and Knockgraffon Parish Church. All the above services are being live streamed from the parish Church. Please do not come to the church during Mass. We thank you for your help and contributions during the past 3 months. Also, there is a new Facebook page called New Inn & Knockgraffon Parish and this will be updated regularly.

To Mark Rooney and Carla McVerry who got married last Friday 19th March in a virtual ceremony. Mark is a son of Nick & Betty Rooney. Betty who passed away some years ago was a well known and loved member of the Barron family, New Inn. We wish Mark & Carla every health & happiness for the future.

VIRTUAL 5 K FUNDRAISER

Rockwell Rovers GAA Club is holding a virtual 5k walk/run from 28th March to 5th April in aid of ongoing club development. The Club has recently commenced developing an All-Weather pitch and a Floodlit Walkway. This will be a huge asset to the parish of New Inn and surrounding areas especially in these covid times. After spending most of the past year in lockdown, everyone, young and old, is looking forward to getting back on the pitches of Ireland either to train and play or to just enjoy our wonderful games of hurling and football. The Rockwell Rovers Club, in rural West Tipperary, caters for over 30 teams between Juvenile, LGFA, Camogie, Mothers and Others and our Senior club so this all-weather pitch is essential to cater for all. The fundraiser is up, and flying and promotional videos have been uploaded to the various social media sites by our Juvenile Secretary, Elaine. To date we have videos with Marty Morrissey, Alan Moloney, Conor Sweeney, Podge Collins, Tommy Walsh, Orla O’Dwyer and Bill Mullaney. Samantha Lambert, Rachel Blackmore, Liam Cahill. JERUSALEMA DANCE CHALLENGE

Lagganstown, neighbours & friends Jerusalema Dance Challenge was held on a beautiful Spring’s day last Sunday 28th February & what better way to showcase our wonderful history and community. Thanks to all those who participated and supported in creating yet another great community day not to mention the memories that we made. A special word of thanks to Seamus Redmond & Jack Ryan.

 

And not to be outdone Garranlea & Boytonrath communities also rose to the jerusalema dance challenge. This was also a fantastic production, many thanks to Anita O Dwyer & Paddy O’Connor (Bellvue) and all who participated. Both of these videos are well worth a view on Facebook.

ATHLETIC NEWS

We want to congratulate Fr. Bobby on his athletic success last weekend with his local Newport Team. Two of Bobby’s students have had a fab weekend, Sharlene Mawdsley got selected to the Irish team for the 400m at the European senior indoor championships in Poland in March and Aimee Hayde has secured a 4-year athletic scholarship at the prestigious Notre Dame University in America. Well done to both girls. He will have to get the whole parish out training now !!

Following the recent Break in, we are installing an alarm system around the altar and sacristy this week, also the door in the sacristy is to be replaced.

 

 

NEW INN GRAVEYARD

The committee would like to ask people who have families buried in the main graveyard and whose Headstone is old and illegible to read on is tipping over to please consider cleaning them up or repairing them. These loved ones have gone before us and prepared us for what we have now, so please do not forget them when they are gone.

On Sunday 28th February, we are going to do our part to lift the hearts and spirits of our families, neighbours & friends.

Due to minimising numbers gathering at the one time, we will carry out our “filming” at different locations (Ball Alley, School, Schoolhouse, Pump, Creamery, Cemetery, Ballycarron Bridge) at different times. Cyril will personally be in touch with all this week to get numbers from you (men, women, boys, girls, cats & dogs all welcome) which will enable him to put a schedule together which you will then be advised of. As always, your support is very much appreciated & between now and Sunday February 28, get practising. ROCKWELL ROVERS GAA CLUB

Rockwell Rovers AGM (Senior & Juvenile) took place on Sunday, January 24 via Zoom call. This was history in the making. Well done to all involved, we had over 44 participants. The following were returned: Patrons: Fr Tom Tobin, Archdeacon Mattie McGrath, Fr Jack Meade CSSP and Fr Frawley CSSP. Life Presidents: Andy O’Dwyer, Philly Heaney and Andy Moloney.
