to New Inn Voices on receiving 2nd place in the Sacred Music competition at the AIMS Choral Festival, New Ross on Sunday, May 22. They received the “Whitten Haslam” Memorial Trophy. Well done to all the members and special thanks to choral director Jayne McConnon for her hard work and endeavour with the group.

To Katie Hennessey, Knockgraffon and Grace O’Dwyer, Locfedora from Rockwell Rovers Ladies Football who are on the panel of the U14 Tipperary football team. They defeated Meath in a hard-fought game last weekend and are now through to an U14 Gold All Ireland Final this Saturday week 21 May in Co Laois at 1.30pm Tipperary V Kildare. Best of Luck to both girls, they are doing their parish and county proud.

NEW INN VOICES

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Congratulations to the boys and girls in 2nd class from New Inn boys and Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal who made their First Holy Communion last Saturday May 14 in New Inn church. Our thanks to Fr. NEW INN VOICES

Easter water will be available after mass on Saturday night and Sunday at both churches.  The water will be bottled for safety reasons. Any elderly people who require a bottle please contact any parish Council members. The Parish/Pastoral Council is inviting all Parishioners to join us for a cup of tea and a biscuit after 11am mass on Sunday morning.  There will be treats for the children as well.  This is an opportunity for us to thank all for their attendance and contribution to the churches for the last year. It would be great to see those who also attended the other services at the weekend as well.  May you all have a Happy Easter.

NEW INN TIDY TOWNS 

held their AGM at the NICC on Tuesday, April 5. It was a well-attended meeting, and the following officers were elected or returned: President: Dave Morris, Chairperson: Philly Fahey, Secretary: Carol Mohally, Ass Sec: Anne Clifford, Joint Treasurers: Mary O’Connor & Phil Ryan, PRO: Sandra English. This Tidy Towns group has shown great strength in recent times and have continued to put their shoulder to the wheel in keeping our village looking its best, when we needed it most. We would love more volunteers to join us so if anyone has an hour to spare, starting at the Grotto, the heart of the village, we will meet up every Wednesday from 7pm. Your help would be much appreciated. CONGRATULATIONS 

Recently the National greyhound awards were held, and the Owen Mckenna trained Susie Sapphire didn’t come home empty handed after her success in winning last year’s Puppy Oaks, Oaks, and Derby. She picked up three awards on the night the ”Future star” award, “Bitch of the year” award followed by the “Supreme greyhound” award, a marvellous achievement and well deserved. Susie Sapphire has already gotten her 2022 campaign off to a flying start when three weeks ago she was triumphant in winning the Bresbet Easter Cup held in Shelbourne Park.

KNOCKGRAFFON/LAGGANSTOWN COMMUNITY ALERT

Will hold their annual sponsored walk on Sunday April 3 at 2pm from Lagganstown Ball Alley to Ballycarron bridge. We have been unable to hold this walk for the past two years due to Covid. Our funds are quite low at the moment so we need to fundraise to ensure the service can continue. We need €700 approx. annually to cover our costs. For the past number of years, we have been able to claim a Government rebate of €350 so our net costs are €350. We have 179 members. If each member makes a small donation, it will more than meet our needs. Donations can be given to Padraig Fitzgerald, Tony Keating, Eileen Riordan, or any committee member. Will hold their annual sponsored walk on Sunday April 2 at 2pm from Lagganstown Ball Alley to Ballycarron bridge. We have been unable to hold this walk for the past two years due to Covid. Our funds are quite low at the moment so we need to fundraise to ensure the service can continue. We need €700 approx. annually to cover our costs. For the past number of years, we have been able to claim a Government rebate of €350 so our net costs are €350. We have 179 members. If each member makes a small donation, it will more than meet our needs. Donations can be given to Padraig Fitzgerald, Tony Keating, Eileen Riordan, or any committee member. You may also pay online communityalerts.ie.

in conjunction with the Hall committee are organising a coffee morning in aid of Ukraine in the New Inn Community Centre (NICC) today Wednesday 16 March at 11am. NEW INN COMMUNITY WALK 8 WEEK PROGRAMME

This Community Walk will start on Tuesday 22nd March at 3.30pm.The meeting point is at New Inn Church Car Park. Cost is €10 plus booking fee. This 8-week programme will introduce participants to all the trails in their local area. The programme will take participants along parts of St. Declan’s Way, Tipperary Heritage Way, Scaragh Woods and High Kings Loop. The walking programme is aimed at those who want to experience trail walking at a gentle pace. Registration is through our website www.tipperarysports.ie. Get those walking boots on for Tuesday March 22, this is a great way to meet people and get outdoors.

EASTER CAMP

Date for your diary – Easter Camp will run on April 12th, 13th & 14th, 10am to 1pm. Age 6 to 13. Camp cost is €35 per child and each child will receive a Sliotar & football.  It is hoped Registration will be able to take place online, set up by Tipperary GAA and we should be able to send out a link early next week. Also, the provisional date for Cul Camp 2022 is Monday June 27 to Friday July 1. More details will follow later.
