RAMBLING HOUSE 

In Ollies Bar, New Inn this Thursday May 5 at 8.30pm.  Music, Song and Storytelling etc. All are welcome.

 

NEW INN & DISTRICT VINTAGE & CLASSIC CLUB 

will hold its annual Walter Cleary Memorial Run this Sunday, May 8 in aid of New Inn Boys & Girls schools, Cashel Day Care Centre & St Patrick’s Hospital, Cashel. Registration is from 11.30am. Entry fee is €20 per vehicle. Vintage Run will begin at 1pm from Barron’s Pub and meet back at Barron’s afterwards for refreshments, music and raffle! All vintage cars, tractors, new and vintage bikes and lorries welcome.

 

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

First Holy Communion takes place on Saturday May 14 in New Inn church. There are two different times – the boys are making their Holy communion at 10.30am and the girls at 12.30. May the sun shine on this happy and holy day.

 

KNOCKGRAFFON CARDS

Joint winners on Wednesday, April 27 with 10 games each were Jim & Mary Garrett and Billy & Vincent Phelan. Well done all! Cards start at 8.15pm. All are welcome.

PARISH NOTES

Parish Council are looking for anyone in Parish especially around the village but not necessarily who could see their way to selling between a half an acre to 3/4 for a Graveyard. We need to plan, and we do require this for down the line. Please contact John Hally or Chris Clifford or Padraig Fitzgerald. Also, anyone with a Headstone in the Old graveyard, could you please clean them if possible. Many thanks! TIPPERARY WOMAN CLAIMS TOP PRIZE AT NATIONAL GREYHOUND AWARDS.

Newinn Taylor is named Dog of the Year and the Supreme Greyhound of the Year at the 2021 National Greyhound Awards. The canine stars of 2020 were recognised at a virtual ceremony. After being named future star of the year in 2019, Newinn Taylor proved himself to be a worthy winner winning 17 from 19 starts in his career. Newinn Taylor won 4 stakes including the 2020 Larry O Rourke Produce Stakes final in Clonmel and claimed the 2020 BoyleSports Derby final Trophy in Shelbourne Park. He was bred and reared in the Little village of New Inn by Shari Anne O’Donnell and her family. It is a once in a lifetime achievement and a huge honour, awards like these are hard to come by. Owned by Simon Taylor and trained by the Hollands-Riverside Kennels, a family run business in Golden in Tipperary that have had ample success over the years.

EVERY STEP COUNTS

Every Step Counts Challenge is a virtual challenge, it is an ideal challenge for our club, our members & the wider community to get involved with during the current level of restrictions. Rockwell Rovers flying it on the leaderboard! Currently 6th club in Munster out of 110 clubs with nearly 2800km done in 4 days! Over 100 people have signed up to date on “My Life” app on their phones! Keep walking, every km counts!! Well done to all, keep up the great work & still time for more to sign up and get active and enjoy this initiative.

Liam Sheedy Visited The O’Brien Home

Tipp senior hurling manager Liam Sheedy visited the O’Brien home, Knockgraffon over Christmas. Pictured here is Donal O’Brien with his wife Michelle and son Daniel. Daniel is seen here holding a Tipp T-shirt belonging to his brother Cormac who passed away during the year. It was very poignant and we would like to extend a big thank you to Liam Sheedy and all who helped to arrange this visit.

PARISH NOTES FOR THIS WEEK

Anniversary masses: Saturday 7.30pm – MaryAnn Clifford, James and Mary Clifford Newtown. Sunday 11am – Christopher & Bridget Heaney Garranlea and their sons Denis and Christopher. Christoir Gallagher, Dogstown. All masses will be livestreamed.

After Wednesday January 6, there will be no masses until Saturday night at 7.30pm. Morning mass will resume Tuesday morning at 10am. We thank everyone for the financial support over Christmas. We urge people who have not collected their boxes yet to please do from the two churches which are open each day for private prayer. YOUNG SCIENTISTS

Well done to the 6th class students in Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál New Inn who have qualified for the young scientist competition to be held virtually in January. The project which is titled “Biodiversity in our Area” details how making small changes to a local environment can enhance and attract a wide range of animals to an environment. The girls have built a ‘Bug Hotel’ and a “Bee bomb” area. They are also using a butterfly hotel, bat box, nesting boxes and a bird feed platform to prove their hypothesis.

Christmas Eve – Knockgraffon – 8pm., Christmas Day – New Inn – 11am, Christmas Day- Knockgraffon – 9.30am.

PLEASE NOTE

– All Parishioners who wish to attend mass as highlighted are requested to sign the associated register which will be available after mass in both churches on the weekend of the 19th/20th December (Please bring your own pen for signing)

– Facemasks are to be worn as per HSE Guidelines

– The external loudspeaker for the New Inn Church will also be switched on for anyone who wishes to remain in their car in the carpark (note, not applicable for mid-night mass)

TIPPERARY G.A.A. YEARBOOK NOW ON SALE

The Tipperary G.A.A. Yearbook is now available in the bookshops and usual outlets i.e., Cashel at Ely’s on the Green, Hall’s in Friar Street, Dolan’s Super Valu and Sampsons in Cahir. It includes the achievements of Rockwell Rovers Juvenile club and Senior club. The highlight of the year being County Intermediate Football champions. All this, over 200 pages, for €15!

LAGGANSTOWN’S 8TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BLESSING

takes place on Tuesday, December 22 at 7pm. We are delighted to support Cuan Saor so Willie the Legend’s donkey cart will be in place. Your continued support is greatly appreciated but please do not feel under pressure to attend as we understand.
