Fr Mathew Players

 

The Fr Mathew Players were first formed 70 years ago this year in 1944 by an ambitious group of enterprising men and women of the Parish. The records show that the original Committee comprised Harry Hickey, David J. O’Neill, Denis Lyons, Fr Cooke, Joe Moloney, Maurice English, Jack Carey,Mary Stapleton, Tim Curran, M.B. Lyons, Dan Gallagher, Alice Stapleton and Jerome Lyons.

In March the following year the Players presented their fi rst Play Paid in his Own Coin and the Cast included Mary Moloney, Maurice Dudley, William Lonergan, Maurice English, Sarah Leamy, Mary Stapleton, Denis Lyons, Harry Hickey and D.J. O’Neill. The stage managers were Chris Barron and John Moore.
