CLOTHES COLLECTION

New Inn community centre is organising a fundraising clothes collection on the following Fridays & Saturdays i.e., 12th & 13th November and 19th & 20th November from 6pm to 7pm. PUBLIC MEETING on N24 ROAD REALIGNMENT

On Monday November 15 at 8pm at Knockgraffon schoolhouse. This is organised by Friends of Knockgraffon. Consulting Engineer Brian Loughrey will address the meeting on issues influencing the selection of proposed routes. Brian has extensive knowledge on motorway design. Friends of Knockgraffon includes residents and landowners in the area around Knockgraffon, including Derryclooney, Masterstown, Knockillon &Loughrey​_ Clogherbreeda. We will all be affected by the proposed new routes for the N24. All are welcome!

NEW INN KNOCKGRAFFON COMMUNITY GAMES

Congratulations to brothers Sean & Conor Hayes, Hymenstown and Sarah Stafford, Boytonrath who represented New Inn Knockgraffon Area at the Community Games County finals recently. Sean won gold in the U16 Butterfly and now goes through to represent Tipperary in the Nationals. Conor won Silver in the U14 Backstroke and Sarah won bronze in the U12 Breaststroke.

BASKETBALL NEWS

Congratulations to Conor Hennessy, Knockgraffon on his selection for the extended Irish u18 Basketball panel. Conor will go through another trial at the end of November. Conor is the only player selected from the Southeast division. Best of luck in the next stage.

SPOOKFEST 2021 – RESULTS

Overall winner in our scarecrow competition is “DJ spook in da house” by Damian & Deirdre O’Dwyer & family.

Runners up in our scarecrow competition is “Croke Park change of venue Rockwell Rovers” by Brian & Jayne McConnon & family.

3rd place winners is “pirate ship by Martin & Sinead Boland & family

4th place winners is “Witches Hut” by Richie & Sheila Loughnane.

5th place winner is the “story of MacBeth” by Tina Kearney.

On behalf of the New Inn Festival Committee, thanks to everyone involved in organising New Inn Spookfest 2021 including all committees and all involved in preparing scarecrows and judges etc. Special thanks to Anita and congrats to all involved across all age groups. And overall winner for this year is DJ Spook in da House. Well done to Damian & Deirdre O’Dwyer, it was just fantastic in the village, it always had a crowd around it and there was plenty of photos taken of it. It was well displayed at night-time especially with Damian lighting it up and playing some tunes only wishing he could DJ himself. BUZZ LIGHTYEAR FROM MIZEN HEAD TO MALIN HEAD

Peter Falvey (XL) a local man from Ballinure, and works in Daltons, Cahir.  He is fundraising for Laura Lynn Hospice for children with life limiting conditions and Scoil Aonghusa Special school, Cashel, Co Tipperary. He is travelling from Mizen Head to Malin Head dressed as Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story on a pink moped motorbike. Please support https://gofund.me/dfcd79e9. IN MEMORY OF MARY O’ROURKE, MINNIE MURPHY, SIOBHAIN O’BRIEN & BRENDAN MORRISSEY

A Memorial Darts evening in memory of the above was held in Barron’s pub, New Inn on Saturday, November 6. This has become an annual event with a Memorial Cup in memory of those who died suddenly. This year the proceeds will go towards two defibrillators for New Inn boys’ school and Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal.  There were over 26 entries and the winner on the night was Francis Sage, Templemore and runner up was John O’Dwyer, Boytonrath. Thanks to the following: Mary Frances Barron for the use of her premises, Paul Lonergan who helped run the dart tournament and the children’s dart tournament earlier in the day. Well done to Harry Stafford and Lauren Lonergan, winners of children’s darts. A big thanks to Noreen & Pakie Fitzgerald, Marlhill Open Farm for supplying food on the night and both primary schools for helping to sell raffle tickets and organise spot prizes. Approx. €2600 has been raised. Well done to all involved. Both Paul Kirwan and Pat O’Rourke must be applauded for their sterling work throughout the years with the help and support of their families and friends.

GAA NEWS

Well done to our Senior footballers who defeated Eire Og Annacarty in Dundrum last Sunday, November 7 in Dundrum in the semi-final of the Tom Cusack Cup. They will now meet Aherlow in the final of the Tom Cusack in two weeks from now. This will be our first ever Co Senior Football Final. One year after coming up from Intermediate football to reach the B final at Seniors is some achievement for a club of our size. It was also great to see that our supporters are back and thanks to the massive support we had last Sunday. Rockwell Rovers abu, one club, one parish.

SINCERE SYMPATHY 

Is extended to Mary Flynn & family, Fr Meehan Crescent, New Inn on the sad passing of her daughter in law Eileen Flynn, Southampton, England. Heartfelt sympathies to her husband John and their children Julie, Steven and Michelle and their partners and children/ grandchildren. Thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.

Sincere sympathies are also extended to Phil & Jean Ryan & family, Outrath on the passing of Jean’s mother Mary Gleeson, late of Clash, Toomevara. Predeceased by her husband Terry, son John and sister Peg Hogan. Deeply regretted by all her family, relatives, neighbours, and friends.
