Weekly meetups are starting in preparation for the 2024 Tidy Towns Competition. Join us at the grotto every Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8pm. If possible, please bring a high visibility vest and some gardening tools. There is a lot to do, and any help is greatly appreciated. If the meet-up time doesn’t work for you, feel free to work on your own time by picking up litter, weeding, or painting. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Niamh Coffey (Farrell) for her exceptional work in completing our Tidy Towns application form. Niamh put in a tremendous amount of effort, and we are truly grateful for her time and assistance. We would also like to acknowledge Niamh Coffey (Farrell) and Catherine O’Brien for their contributions to the Smart Villages initiative. We kindly request that all households keep the area outside their homes free of litter and weeds. Our Tidy Towns committee is small and under pressure to maintain the village’s appearance, especially with the upcoming judging starting from June 4th. Remember, every little bit helps. Last year, your efforts paid off, and we increased our marks by 6. Let’s aim to increase our marks even more this year! New members are always welcome to join us.

NEW INN CLASSIC VINTAGE CLUB
The sun shone brightly on Sunday, May 5th, as the New Inn Vintage Club held its annual Car & Tractor Run in honour of the late Walter (Watty) Cleary. The day kicked off with a delightful fun run for children, who rode their tractors and bikes through the village. It was a sight to behold, and it’s exciting to think that in ten years’ time, many of these youngsters will be driving their own cars and tractors in the run!
The event was a resounding success, raising an impressive €8000.00 for three important local organizations: New Inn Parish Links, Cashel Day Care Center, and Cashel Residential Older Persons Services (CROPS). The club is immensely grateful to all the dedicated volunteers who contributed their time and effort to make the day a triumph. From selling raffle tickets to providing food and acting as marshals to ensure everyone’s safety, their invaluable support was instrumental in the event’s success. The club extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who generously made donations, as well as to the local schools and the GAA for allowing the use of their facilities.
The raffle prizes were truly fantastic, and the winners were thrilled. Orla Peters walked away with the first prize, followed by Ann Moloney in second place and Willie Flynn in third. Gearoid Moloney claimed the fourth prize, and a total of 25 prizes were awarded. As the evening descended, the festivities continued with an exciting auction at Barron’s Pub, accompanied by lively music. The club expresses its deepest gratitude to all those who generously donated items for the auction. The support and contributions from the community were truly heartwarming. A special thank you goes out to everyone who came out to witness the stunning display of vintage cars, tractors, and bikes. It is the unwavering support of people like you that makes this day so extraordinary.
The New Inn Vintage Club was established in May 2010 by Walter Cleary and Jimmy O Farrell. It is remarkable to see how the club has flourished over the years, and we eagerly anticipate many more successful runs in the future, raising funds for our beloved local communities. To date, the club has raised an impressive €50,000.00. This event showcases the power of community spirit and the joy that comes from preserving our rich heritage. The New Inn Vintage Club looks forward to continuing its important work and making a positive impact in the years to come.
