MARLHILL OPEN FARM

Best of luck to Pakie & Noreen Fitzgerald & family as they welcome all to their newly opened Marlhill Open Farm. The farm is designed with a young family in mind. They have travelled extensively and visited many family destinations around Ireland and Wales and know what a family needs to have a fun day out!

It’s a place where you can relax and enjoy getting up close and personal with the animals or over having a cuppa in their brand-new café while the children burn off steam. It was great to call over to see the farm over the weekend. I came away with quail eggs for supper. This is a new enterprise and great to have in our parish.

LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL CLUB

Even though we are into October our girls are all still very busy on the pitch. Our u6, u8 & u10 girls travelled to Clerihan last week and are looking forward to welcoming Moyle Rovers this weekend. Our two u12 teams are at the County Quarter Final stages and both teams are busy preparing for these matches. Our two u14 teams are looking forward to their County Finals this weekend and we are looking forward to two exhilarating matches. Venues and times of the same to be confirmed. We wish both teams and their coaches the very best of luck. Our u16 team had a phenomenal County Final win last Saturday in Sean Treacy Park against Fethard and surpassed all expectations. We would like to congratulate this dedicated team and their coaches and parents.
Our G4M&O is growing every week. Training continues every Monday night at 8.15pm. A recent trip to Pilltown for a blitz proved to be a great day out and thoroughly enjoyed by all who travelled.

CAMOGIE

It’s been a busy few weekends, our two u12 teams were county finalists over the last two weeks. Our blue and white team played 2 crackers of games in Clonoulty, and were beaten by a point to Burgess and our white team got beaten by 2 points. It was a tough day out for the girls, it left our blue team in a plate final which was played Friday night against Cahir in New Inn and unfortunately it was again not our night, but we couldn’t have asked anymore from them, fantastic bunch of girls We will continue to train away as u13s will start in next week or two. Our u15s first league match takes place now Tuesday night and will play out over next few weeks. Our u8s and u10s took part in Festival of Camogie, organised by County development and what a day we had, everyone went home smiling from ear to ear after some Camogie played on the day. Huge thanks to all the parents that travelled and supported us on the day. We congratulate all our dual players that had football finals last weekend. Well done to you all for getting to these stages and especially our own girls for a fine win last Sunday.

ROCKWELL ROVERS GAA CLUB

It’s been another busy weekend for Rockwell Rovers Juvenile & Senior Club. Well done to our two U13 teams on winning their respective West finals during the week. Well done to all the players & coaches. Also, our U19 football team won their West semi-final last Wednesday and will meet the winners of Galtee Rovers v Cappawhite Gaels in the final. Hard luck to our Rockwell/ Rosegreen U17 hurlers who were in County quarter finals against Drom inch on Sat 2 Oct at The Ragg. Final score 5-16 to 5-9. It was a hard-fought battle and at one stage they were level (just after the last water break 2-12 to 4-6). A big thank you to all the players and mentors Matt Geraghty, Liam Fahey, Enda Brady, and Robbie O’Donnell. Hard luck to our Senior Footballers who were defeated by Loughmore/Castleiney last Saturday in Holycross in the FBD Insurance County Football championship.
